  • Sensitivity after preparation, especially to hot and cold (usually temporary)
  • Irreversible removal of a small amount of enamel is required
  • Risk of chipping, cracking or detachment over time, especially without consistent night guard use
  • Colour and shape cannot be changed after bonding
  • Rarely, if the underlying tooth is compromised, a crown or root canal may become necessary
  • The night guard must be worn regularly to protect the restorations
