Risks & side effects

Main risks & side effects

  • Full-arch implant treatment is a complex surgical procedure involving extraction of remaining teeth and placement of multiple implants per arch.
  • Post-operative swelling, bruising, and temporary dietary restrictions are expected.
  • Osseointegration (bone-implant fusion) requires approximately 3–5 months before the final prosthesis is placed.
  • A temporary prosthesis is worn during the healing period.
  • Bone grafting may be required in some cases.
  • Prosthetic components have a finite lifespan and may require maintenance or replacement.
  • This is an elective, privately billed (self-pay) treatment, not covered by Japanese national health insurance.
