Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for international patients in Tokyo.

Everything patients most often ask us — English support, planning treatment around a trip to Tokyo, what treatments cost, IV sedation, safety, children and emergencies. Still unsure? Our English-speaking team is one message away.

General

Visiting the clinic

Do you speak English?

Yes. RODIN DENTAL OFFICE is an English-speaking dental clinic in central Tokyo. Your consultation, treatment explanations, consent and written estimate are all handled in English, and our reception and patient-support team can help with scheduling and any questions before and after your visit. Many patients find us by searching for an English-speaking dentist in Tokyo precisely because language is the first barrier they want removed.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes — we welcome new patients, whether you live in Tokyo or are visiting. If you have been searching for a dentist near you accepting new patients, you can reserve an in-person visit, or start with a free online consultation to discuss your situation first.

Where is the clinic? How do I get there?

We are in central Tokyo — a short walk from Onarimon Station and only minutes from Tokyo Tower, so the clinic is easy to reach from most central hotels. Our Access page has the map, the nearest stations and step-by-step directions.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept the major payment methods commonly used in Japan; please confirm the current options with our team when you book. Whatever the method, every treatment plan is given to you as a clear written estimate before treatment begins, with no hidden fees.

What are your opening hours?

Our current opening hours and closed days are listed on the Access page. Hours can change around Japanese public holidays, so please check there or contact us to confirm before you travel.

Dental Tourism

Coming to Tokyo for treatment

Can I get dental treatment while visiting Tokyo as a tourist?

Yes. We treat many international visitors — being a dentist in Japan for tourists is a core part of what we do. Treatment is planned around your travel dates wherever possible, from a single visit for whitening or a check-up to multi-visit work such as veneers or implants scheduled across your stay.

Can I get a free consultation before traveling to Tokyo?

Yes. A free online consultation lets you share photos and your goals, discuss the likely options, and receive guidance before you book flights — so the time you spend in Tokyo is used efficiently. It is the best first step for anyone planning treatment from overseas.

How long do I need to stay in Tokyo for treatment?

It depends on the treatment. Whitening or a check-up can often be a single visit; veneers, crowns and implant work need more than one visit, sometimes with healing time in between. During your consultation we map the visit schedule for you so you can plan your trip with confidence.

Do you provide aftercare for international patients?

Yes. You receive written aftercare instructions, and our English-speaking team stays reachable by WhatsApp, LINE or email after you return home. If you need to be seen locally, we can explain what to share with a dentist in your home country so your care continues smoothly.

Treatments & Pricing

Treatments and what they cost

How much do dental implants cost?

For dental implant cost in Japan: at RODIN an implant body is ¥299,900 and the abutment ¥99,000, with the crown that sits on top quoted separately. Because every case differs — bone condition, the number of teeth, whether grafting is needed — the complete per-tooth total is confirmed in a clear written estimate after your assessment.

How much do veneers cost?

For veneers in Japan: an IPS e.max veneer is ¥199,900 per tooth and a hand-built feldspathic veneer is ¥399,900 per tooth. The right material depends on your goals and the teeth involved; we explain the trade-offs and give a written estimate for your specific case.

What is All-on-4 and how much does it cost?

All-on-4 is a full-arch restoration that replaces a complete arch of teeth on four implants — a fixed solution for patients missing most or all of their teeth. At RODIN it is from ¥3,500,000 per arch; the final figure is confirmed in writing after 3D-CT planning of your case.

Is teeth whitening available in one visit?

Yes. Our in-office BEYOND® whitening (¥34,900) is completed in a single visit, and a First Visit Whitening Package (¥59,900) combines it with your first examination — convenient if you are visiting Tokyo for a short trip. Whitening results vary from person to person.

What is the difference between feldspathic and e.max veneers?

IPS e.max veneers (¥199,900 per tooth) are pressed lithium-disilicate ceramic — strong and highly aesthetic, a versatile everyday choice. Feldspathic veneers (¥399,900 per tooth) are built up by hand, layer by layer, for the most natural interaction with light; they are often chosen for front teeth where the finest artistry matters most.

What is the difference between single-layered and multi-layered zirconia?

Single-layered (monolithic) zirconia crowns (¥179,900) are milled from one uniform block — very strong and well suited to back teeth that take heavy chewing load. Multi-layered zirconia (¥229,900) has built-in gradients of colour and translucency for a more natural look on visible teeth. We recommend the right type tooth by tooth.

IV Sedation

Sleep dentistry & sedation

Do you offer IV sedation?

Yes. IV sedation is available for anxious patients and for longer or more complex procedures such as implant placement and All-on-4. At RODIN it is administered by a licensed anesthesiologist — a separate professional from the operating dentist — which is the international safety standard for sedation dentistry.

Is IV sedation safe?

IV sedation has a well-documented safety profile when administered by a licensed anesthesiologist with continuous monitoring of heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Your medical history and medications are reviewed beforehand, emergency equipment is on hand, and the individual risks are explained to you in writing during the consultation.

Can I drive after IV sedation?

No. For 24 hours after IV sedation you must not drive, operate machinery, sign legal documents or work. We can arrange a taxi to take you back to your hotel, and we recommend that a responsible adult is with you for the remainder of the day.

Safety & Hygiene

Safety, sterilization & hygiene

How do you ensure safety and hygiene?

We run to Japanese medical-facility standards and add a European sterilization standard on top: single-use disposables for everyday care, fully-sterilized precision instruments for surgery, surface disinfection between patients, and managed treatment-water lines. Our full protocol is set out on the Safety & Sterilization page.

What sterilization class do you use?

Instruments are sterilized in a Class B autoclave — the highest cycle class defined by the European standard EN 13060. Its prevacuum cycle removes air so steam can reach inside hollow instruments (such as handpieces) and porous materials that the Class N and Class S cycles common in general practice cannot reliably penetrate.

Are instruments single-use or sterilized?

Both, by design. Basics such as gloves, masks, aprons and suction tips are single-use, opened fresh for each patient and never reused. Reusable instruments are cleaned, disinfected and then sterilized in the Class B autoclave between every patient, sealed in individual pouches opened at the chairside. Surgery uses precision stainless-steel instruments fully sterilized for each case — deliberately not simple disposables.

Children

Care for children

Do you treat children?

Yes — we offer pediatric dentistry in English, so each visit can be explained to both you and your child. Care is gentle and child-friendly, with prevention and habit-building at the centre.

What is Myobrace?

Myobrace, offered through the Pureteth programme, is an early-intervention orthodontic approach for children that aims to address the oral habits behind crowded teeth — not only the teeth themselves. The programme is ¥385,000, with a free initial consultation and ¥5,500 per monthly visit. Outcomes depend on the child and on consistent daily use.

Emergency

Dental emergencies in Tokyo

Do you accept walk-ins or emergency patients?

We see urgent dental problems and do our best to help international visitors quickly. Please call or message us (WhatsApp / LINE) as early in the day as you can so we can find the soonest available slot. An emergency consultation is ¥19,900, with any treatment quoted to you before it begins.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency in Tokyo?

Contact us right away by phone, WhatsApp or LINE and describe what happened. If a tooth has been knocked out, keep it moist (in milk or your own saliva — not water) and bring it with you. Avoid touching the root. We will guide you on what to do until you can be seen.

Still have a question?

If your question is not answered here, ask us directly. Our English-speaking team replies on WhatsApp, LINE, by phone or email — or book a free online consultation.
