Risks & side effects
Main risks & side effects
- Full-arch implant treatment is a complex surgical procedure involving extraction of remaining teeth and placement of multiple implants per arch.
- Post-operative swelling, bruising, and temporary dietary restrictions are expected.
- Osseointegration (bone-implant fusion) requires approximately 3–5 months before the final prosthesis is placed.
- A temporary prosthesis is worn during the healing period.
- Bone grafting may be required in some cases.
- Prosthetic components have a finite lifespan and may require maintenance or replacement.
- This is an elective, privately billed (self-pay) treatment, not covered by Japanese national health insurance.
